What is Latisse?

LATISSE^® solution (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03% - is a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker and darker.

Hypotrichosis is another name for having inadequate or not enough eyelashes.

Does it really work?

We want long eyelashes too! We personally use it and are amazed at the actual results. This product really works!

How does it work?

LATISSE^® is believed to affect the growth (anagen) phase of the eyelash hair cycle in two ways: first, it increases the length of this phase; and second, it increases the number of hairs in this growth phase. The exact way it works is unknown.

Can men use this product too?

Yes, of course. Latisse® is appropriate for men or women if conditions warrant it.

Can I use it on my eyebrows?

While it may seem like a good idea, Latisse® should only to be used on your upper eyelashes.

How long does it take to see results? And is it permanent?

LATISSE^® users may see results at 8 weeks with full results at 12 to 16 weeks. The growth is gradual overnight, over time.

Is there a maintenance regimen, once I achieve maximum results?

Is Latisse a replacement for mascara?

With regular use, Latisse^® will grow your natural eyelashes longer, fuller, thicker, and darker - the very same reasons we use mascara, eh? However, you can still apply mascara while using Latisse if you want to see even more dramatic effects.

What is the size of the bottle? And how long will one bottle last?

Each bottle of Latisse® contains 3ml of solution, and comes with 60 sterile applicators. You get double the applicators, because you use only only applicator per eye, each day. Apply only one drop of Latisse per applicator. If using correctly, your solution should last 30 days.

Does Latisse need to be refrigerated?

No. In fact, it's a good idea to keep it handy - say in your bathroom, so that you will remember to use it every day. Visit the Tips for Success page for some other helpful guidelines.

What, if any, are the side effects to consider?

The most common side effects after using LATISSE® solution are an itching sensation in
the eyes and/or eye redness, which were reported in approximately 4% of patients. These
may occur immediately after use, but should usually last only for a short period of time.
Eye itching and eye redness are not allergic reactions, and do not mean that your eyes are
being harmed.

LATISSE® solution may cause other less common side effects, which typically occur on
the skin close to where LATISSE® is applied, or in the eyes. These include eye irritation,
dryness of the eyes, and redness of the eyelids. Skin darkening (or hyperpigmentation) is
another less common side effect. This condition causes areas of skin to become darker
than the surrounding skin color.

Increased brown iris pigmentation has occurred when similar medications were instilled
directly into the eye to treat elevated intraocular pressure/glaucoma. Although iris
pigmentation was not reported in clinical studies with LATISSE®, patients should be
advised about the potential for increased brown iris pigmentation which is likely to be
permanent.

If you develop a new ocular condition (e.g., trauma or infection), experience a sudden decrease in visual acuity, have ocular surgery, or develop any ocular reactions, particularly conjunctivitis and eyelid reactions, you should immediately seek your physician's advice concerning the continued use of LATISSE^® solution.

Are there other warnings or considerations I need to know?

LATISSE^® solution is intended for use on the skin of the upper eyelid margins at the base of the eyelashes. Refer to the illustration below. DO NOT APPLY to the lower eyelid. If you are using LUMIGAN^® or other products in the same class for elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), or if you have a history of abnormal IOP, you should only use LATISSE^® under the close supervision of your local physician.

LATISSE^® use may cause darkening of the eyelid skin which may be reversible. LATISSE^® use may also cause increased brown pigmentation of the colored part of the eye which is likely to be permanent.

It is possible for hair growth to occur in other areas of your skin that LATISSE^® frequently touches. Any excess solution outside the upper eyelid margin should be blotted with a tissue or other absorbent material to reduce the chance of this from happening. It is also possible for a difference in eyelash length, thickness, fullness, pigmentation, number of eyelash hairs, and/or direction of eyelash growth to occur between eyes. These differences, should they occur, will usually go away if you stop using LATISSE^®.

What the heck does IOP mean?

IOP stands for elevated Intraocular Pressure. This is a condition where the pressure inside the eye is higher than normal. LATISSE^® may decrease IOP. So talk to your doctor if you are using IOP-lowering medications. Concurrent administration of LATISSE^® and certain IOP-lowering medications in ocular hypertensive patients should be closely monitored for changes in intraocular pressure.

If I am pregnant or nursing - can I still use Latisse?

Unfortunately, no. Latisse is not recommended for pregnant and lactating women as potential side effects to the unborn or nursing infant are not fully known. Besides, your hair and lashes will be gorgeous anyway!

How do I apply Latisse?

LATISSE^® solution is a once-a-day treatment you apply yourself each evening to the base of the upper eyelashes. DO NOT APPLY in your eye or to the lower lid because excess hair growth outside the treatment area may occur. See the video instructions in How to Apply, and apply as instructed.

1. Before applying LATISSE^® each night, ensure your face is clean, makeup and contact lenses are removed, and any other facial care products have already been applied.

2. Remove an applicator from its tray. Then, holding the sterile applicator horizontally, place one drop of LATISSE^® solution on the area of the applicator closest to the tip but not on the tip, so as to not let any drip off.

3. Immediately draw the applicator carefully along the skin at the base of the upper eyelashes (where the eyelashes meet the skin) going from the inner part of your lash line to the outer part. Do not apply in your eye or to the lower lid because excess hair growth outside the treatment area may occur.

4. Blot any excess solution beyond the eyelid with a tissue.

5. Dispose of the applicator after one use. Repeat for opposite eyelid, using a new sterile applicator to help minimize any potential for contamination from one eyelid to another.

Can I use it on both upper and lower lashes?

No. A clinical trial of LATISSE^® was conducted on patients who applied the product to the base of their upper lashes only. Do not apply in your eye or to the lower lid. There is the potential for hair growth to occur in areas where LATISSE^® solution comes in repeated contact with the skin surface. It is important to apply LATISSE^® only to the skin of the upper eyelid margin at the base of the eyelashes using the accompanying sterile applicators, and to carefully blot any excess LATISSE^® from the eyelid margin to avoid it running onto the cheek or other skin areas.

What if I forget to apply a treatment?

If you miss an application or a few, don't try to catch up. Just apply the LATISSE^® treatment the next evening and stay on schedule

What happens if I stop using Latisse?

To continue to receive the maximum benefits of Latisse®, daily application is required.

And If you decide to stop using LATISSE^®, your eyelashes are expected to return to their previous appearance over several weeks to months.

Can I use it if I wear Contact lenses?

Contact lenses should be removed prior to application of LATISSE^® and may be reinserted 15 minutes following its administration.

Yikes! What happens if I accidentally get it into my eye?

Not to worry. LATISSE^® solution is an ophthalmic drug product. If any gets into the eye, it is not expected to cause harm. The eye should not be rinsed.

What are the ingredients? And who should not use it?

Active ingredient: bimatoprost
Inactive ingredients: benzalkonium chloride; sodium chloride; sodium phosphate, dibasic; citric acid; and purified water. Sodium hydroxide and/or hydrochloric acid may be added to adjust pH. The pH during its shelf life ranges from 6.8 — 7.8.

Naturally, do not use LATISSE^® solution if you are allergic to any one of its ingredients.

What the heck is skin hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation is a common, usually harmless condition in which areas of skin become darker than the surrounding skin color. This occurs when there is an increase in the melanin, the brown pigment that produces normal skin color, in the skin. Skin hyperpigmentation is a possible side effect of LATISSE^®, but may be reversible after discontinuation of the product.

What should I do if I experience eye redness?

Eye redness may occur immediately after use. Contact us and/or consult your doctor if the redness persists or you notice other symptoms as well. If you develop a new eye condition (e.g. trauma or infection), experience a sudden decrease in visual acuity, have eye surgery, or develop any eye reactions, particularly conjunctivitis and eyelid reactions, you should immediately seek your physician’s advice concerning the continued use of LATISSE^®.

Tips for Success -while using Latisse

Once you know how to apply LATISSE^®, it's important to understand a few simple tips
to help you make your treatment as effective as possible.

(We know you already know this, but feel we need to say it here anyway.)
~Remember - to not share your product with anyone else. Latisse® is a prescription medication used to treat thinning and/or inadequate eyelashes. Sharing applicators also increases the risk of contamination and/or eye infection. Decreasing the recommended dose will also result in less than optimum results.

~For best results - Simply follow these few simple guidelines:

~Think routine.

Try to incorporate LATISSE^® into your nightly routine — for example, after you've washed your face and brushed your teeth.

~Keep it handy.

Store the LATISSE^® bottle near your other skin care products or toothbrush, so you won't forget to apply it each night.

~Be patient, Grasshopper.

LATISSE^® (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03% takes time to work. Only use it once a night, and don't overuse it, as this may increase the chance of experiencing eye redness or itchiness.

~Start fresh and squeeky clean.

If your eye makeup remover leaves an oily residue on your eyelids, wash off any excess oils with soap and water to ensure a clean surface before you apply LATISSE^®.

~Follow the rules.

Always use the sterile, disposable FDA-approved applicator provided in the kit. Don't try to apply LATISSE^® with a cotton swab. The LATISSE^® applicator is specially designed to hold a drop, and more importantly, release the prescribed dosage.

~Don't play catch up.

If you miss a dose one night, don't apply more just to catch up. Simply apply LATISSE^® the next evening and stay on schedule. Catch up on your laundry instead.

~Beware of germs!

This one is important. Don't let the tip of the bottle or the applicator contact your fingers or any other unintended surface, in order to avoid contamination by common bacteria known to cause infections. You'll have to agree, even the best, longest lashes will not look so good with conjunctivitis - also known as "Pink Eye." Eew.

~Chart your progress - show off to your friends.
